Data-Driven Instruction

Ideas for Data Driven Instruction:

  • Use Universal Screeners to group students
    • Determine who needs additional supports
  • Use Diagnostic Assessments to individualize instruction/materials
    • Example:  NWEA MAP's Learning Continuum Report
      • Gives skills/concepts that students are ready to learn
      • Use IXL to match lessons to skills students are ready to learn
    • Example:  Use reading diagnostic assessments
      • Match students to text using lexile scores
      • Match reading intervention to student based off of scores (comprehension, decoding, vocabulary strategies, etc.)
  • Use Classroom Assessments to determine next steps in instruction
    • Example:  Most students missed assessment questions relating to a concept
      • reteach concept to students then...
      • have students apply what they learned to real-life situation.
